A water-logged wedding dress floating in a pond? That could be the stuff of any bride's worst nightmares.
After months of shopping for wedding dresses, narrowing it down the perfect gown and then enduring dozens of fittings, most brides plan to keep their dress for years to come. Perhaps even forcing it on their daughters one day.
However, a new trend in wedding photos has many brides purposely ruining their
wedding gowns after the ceremony. The Sunshine Coast Daily reports that many brides love the concept of "drowning" their dresses, which consists of donning their gowns and then taking a dip in a pond, a pool, a lake or the ocean.
Photographers capture every moment of the event as brides slowly submerge themselves (and their wedding dresses) in the water. Some brides might opt to have the photo shoot right after the ceremony, while others may choose to have it sometime after the big day.
"For just a second I thought 'what am I doing?'" Kylie Sagar, a bride who recently indulged in the trend told the news source. "But the dress had served its purpose, it was liberating to do it, toss tradition out the door and say with our photographs 'this is us.'"
Ruin your wedding dress is an awful thing to do in my opinion. I don't see the point. But realistically the only option is to leave it hanging ion your wardrobe for the rest of your life I guess. If you have a great photographer then make sure he/she catches the moment the dress is ruined, otherwise it's a waste - here's some great wedding dress ruin photos I found here - http://www.essexweddingservices.com/blog/2009/11/trash-the-wedding-dress...
