Most brides-to-be are glowing on the big day, but new technology allows for wedding dresses, constructed with hidden OLED panels, to literally light up as you walk down the aisle.

The wedding gowns can be turned on at any moment – one bride even "lit" her dress during her and her new husband's first dance.

The unique dress had 300 tiny OLED lighbulbs sewn into the skirt, according to Trendhunter.com. The bulbs are energy-efficient, so brides who are planning a sustainable wedding can still feel good about a well-lit walk down the aisle.

Of course, if you prefer a more traditional look, there are plenty of new dresses out this season that will allow brides to shine sans-bulbs.

Priscilla of Boston's strapless wedding dress with pockets has plenty of pretty details and embellishments that create interest without qualifying as a possible fire hazard!

However, we're sure that any seamstress worth her salt could come up with a way to sew some lights into the gown of your choice. And, if the goodwill and long-lasting friendship of your bridesmaids isn't that important to you, you could opt for the entire bridal party to sport the "lighted" look.

  • This was totally my idea! This Christmas season I put a "lit" dress in our store front window as our "Christmas tree" and the idea hit me to have gowns that really do light up!
