Petite brides-to-be should avoid certain wedding dresses

There were some pretty fabulous wedding dresses in 2009. From Heidi Montag's frothy, feathery wedding gown to Ivanka Trump's vintage-inspired Vera Wang dress, style-conscious brides had plenty of options to choose from this year.

But, though many brides have a "go big or go home" attitude toward their wedding dress, AssociatedContent.com reports that petite brides might be easily overwhelmed by dramatic styles.

The news source suggests that knee-length wedding gowns, which were particularly popular in the spring of 2009, might not translate well on a smaller frame. Statuesque brides-to-be, however, should be able to carry off a shorter dress if they like that style.

For the vertically-challenged bride, an empire waist offers a flattering and lengthening style. Or, they could opt for a strapless wedding dress cut on a vertical bias, similar to the one that Vera Wang showcased earlier this year.

However, if you fall completely in love with a dress, we're sure that you can make it work! Just throw on some sky-high white heels before you (very cautiously) walk down the aisle.
