When brides envision their big day, their wedding dress is likely to be first and foremost on their mind.

Whether they always dreamed of a wedding gown with a long, elaborate train or a simple dress with a cascading veil, finding the wedding dress that fits that vision is likely to be one of the biggest tasks on their wedding checklist.

However, it's also likely to be one of the most expensive.

Because the recession seems to be putting a squeeze on many brides' wedding budgets, the Seattle Times reports that smart recessionistas have begun to shop for vintage or consignment wedding dresses as a way to cut costs.

Though it might require time and patience to cull through racks or used dresses, shopping for a vintage gown is an excellent way to save money on your wedding dress without lowering your expectations.
The news source reports that used dresses typically sell for at least 50 percent less than their original price.
