Avatar may have lost the coveted Best Picture Award at last night's Oscars, but one woman who recently viewed the film may be walking around with a perma-grin at the moment.

Bryan Hughes proposed to Kerry Richardson before a screening of the billion-dollar blockbuster, according to The Telegraph. Hughes, ever-the-sensitive spouse-to-be, also arranged for 50 of her closest friends and family to sit in the audience. The intimate group was disguised by 3-D glasses.

"Just before the lights dimmed Bryan went to the lavatory. I was stuck on my own when the film started and I thought 'Typical, he's going to miss the beginning,'" she told the news source. A home video that Hughes made then took the place of the Avatar footage, where he officially asked for Richardson's hand in marriage.

"I nearly fainted when he turned round and it was him," she told the news source of seeing Hughes' mug on camera. The British pair has already started wedding planning.

James Cameron may be down in the dumps right now, but we have some exciting news for him - the newly-engaged couple still went on to watch his film after Hughes slipped the engagement ring on Richardson's finger.
