Simon Cowell will be wearing wedding ring soon

Looks like Simon Cowell, the man responsible for making thousands of poor souls cry themselves to sleep, is up to his old tricks. Good news though - this time, he may inspire tears of joy!

The American Idol curmudgeon confirmed on The Tonight Show that the rumors are true, and he did indeed give an engagement ring to his sweetheart. When Jay Leno poked and prodded the botoxed-Brit for info about when he will be heading down the aisle, Cowell flashed a coy grin and begrudgingly gave him the scoop.

"Are they true? Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy," he told the silver-haired host.

Cowell's future wife is Mezhgan Hussainy, a stunning makeup artist. This is a humungous step for the music-industry millionaire, who has previously said he had no plans to swap wedding rings with anyone, ever.

Cowell previously dated Terri Seymour, a British television presenter and actress, for six years.

It looks like the stuffy judge is getting soft in his old age. He also recently told Piers Morgan during an interview for the UK Life Series program that he is ready to have "little Simons around."

There goes Paula Abdul's sanity.
