While gay marriage picks up steam in the United States, same-sex unions have been legal in Sweden since 2009. Now, the Nordic country is reaching new heights with its latest endeavor - the first in-flight gay wedding ceremony.

According to The New York Daily News, Scandinavian airline SAS is currently searching for candidates to exchange wedding vows while jet-setting from Stockholm, Sweden, to New York City. The actual donning of
wedding rings will take place in Swedish territory.
"It will be a very traditional wedding," SAS spokesman Anders Lindstroem told AFP. "There will be
wedding cake and dancing in the aisles." The news source also mentions that the lucky lovebirds will be treated to a delicious in-flight wedding buffet.
So far, around 35 couples from countries such as Denmark, Malta and China have applied for the celebration, which includes the free flight, a three-night stay at the W Hotel in the Big Apple, and a Los Angeles
honeymoon. Applicants are required to upload photos and video of themselves, as well as answer sentimental questions about their relationship.
