Exchanging wedding vows the first time is a memorable moment, but renewing them can invigorate a relationship after several years of marital bliss. Edie and Jim Usher proved this last week when they returned to the church where they wed 50 years ago to renew their commitment to each other.

The Express and Star reports that the Ushers first walked down the aisle on Oct. 15, 1960, but were unable to indulge in a honeymoon getaway. At the time, Jim Usher had to return to his Royal Airforce Base in Ireland shortly after they tied the knot. This time around, the couple isn't holding back.

"We have kept putting it off ever since and the Golden Wedding seemed the perfect opportunity to have the honeymoon," Jim told the news source. "I have always wanted to go to Australia and Singapore and needed 50 years to save up for it."

Nearly 200 people were with the Ushers to celebrate the renewal of their vows and wedding anniversary. And, it's nice to know the couple wanted the company of their closest friends and family instead of being showered with presents - guests were asked to donate to Breast Cancer Care and Singleton hospital instead of bringing gifts.
