Anna Karenina Wedding Inspiration

By admin, Published Mar 12, 2013

2013 brides are loving wedding themes inspired by Hollywood blockbusters, so the moment I laid eyes on this Anna Karenina wedding shoot by Fort Meyers photographer Hunter Ryan, I knew I had to share!

Fusing high-society style from late-19th-century Russia, with opulent details of gold, sparkly crystals, and fur, Hunter Ryan delivers the drama and opulence of Anna Karenina on-screen, to an enchanted outdoor winter wedding. Take a peek...

And if you adore this vintage-inspired theme and want to recreate it for your wedding, here's a bit more background straight from the photographer...

Instead of vengeance and wrongdoings in Anna Karenina our styled shoot more exploits the opulent Russian setting of Leo Tolstoy's novel, and thus becomes the inspiration for a Russian winter wedding in Southwest Florida. Had Anna and Count Vronsky been able to escape the social pressures of their worlds, this would be their private wedding-their happily ever after.

The styling dispels the myth of not being able to achieve a winter styled wedding amongst the palms of Southwest Florida, and proves you don't need sparkly white branches, fake snow or all white elements to do it. Instead of heading into a more wooded area in Southwest Florida (which is hard to come by) we set up right along the riverfront on the Caloosahatchee. We really wanted the challenge of helping brides be able to see the winter vision right against a typical Floridian backdrop.

The overall theme was using old world jewel tones juxtaposed with soft peonies and warm furs. We started with old world Russian circus- style "Big Top" tents. One tent was created as a private sitting room, the other as their reception area... complete with a comfortable lounge filled with colorful pillows, lots of candles and rich furs. Their reception table was simple and pretty and low to the ground to stay with a loungey comfortable feel. More pillows and fur rugs served as seating.

Finally for the bride and grooms styling we have a handsome groom with coat tails and an opera scarf, and a gorgeous bride in a vintage lace gown adorned in jewels and luxurious fur. And well, unrequited love turned marriage? Well it was just beautiful!
