Artificial Aisle Runners: Hitch It or Ditch It?

Usually when I hear about a new wedding product I know right away if I think it's a good idea or not. Shoe lifts for grooms, um, no. Brooch bouquets?
I have to admit though that this one has me stumped. Petal Happy
is a company offering gorgeous aisle runners and gazebo covers made out of artificial flowers.
On the plus side, they are beautiful and each one is unique. If you like the idea of walking down the aisle on top of flowers, you don't have to spend hours painstakingly laying them out (or rely on your flower girl to actually throw her petals). Also, these won't stain the bottom of your dress, and no one has to clean them up afterwards (which some venues would require).
On the negative side, prices start at $460, and according to their PR rep, it's not a good idea to reuse them for more than one bride, and they can't be recycled or composted. So, you're replacing flower petals with something that's going to sit in a landfill after one use.
I think I'm leaning on the side of "nice idea, but an unnecessary expense." What do you think? Hitch it or ditch it?
