Bridal Trends, Fall 2013 NYC

Twice a year designers show their collections amid all the fanfare of runway shows. My favorite part of all this hoop-la is giving you my interpretation of those uncovering trends. In 2013 we're seeing two diametrically opposed ideas happening in bridal wear: The return of and breaking away from tradition all at once...

Returning to tradition, we're seeing the reinvention of illusion and lace necklines. Also some gowns come with sleeves a la 1940s-50s ranging from cap, 3/4-length to long, fitted ones with a row of buttons up the wrist. Long flowing veils and mantillas were popular with the Marchesa gowns, a classic touch that really says, bride.

Breaking away from tradition, bridal gowns and dresses are still sporting color--either full-on or touches of it and/or non-traditional bridal silhouettes, some even showing off deep pockets. Short and sassy is still on trend--we just can't get enough of these little gems, can we?

Here are  a few of my faves from NYC Fall 2013... what looks and trends do you love most?
