Ever since our new honeymoon page went up, I’ve been thinking about different honeymoon strategies. It makes me nervous when couples say they’re putting off their honeymoon. The reality is, a lot of couples start saving for a honeymoon, but then life interferes -- jobs, kids, houses… before you know it you’re one of those adorable old couples who wind up in the local paper because your grandchildren got together to send you on your dream trip.
OK, that may be overstating it, but I think everyone should take the at least a couple of days directly after the wedding to get away together and re-introduce yourselves to each other.
A “mini-moon,” a short trip to a nearby location, can be a great idea for couples who can’t afford a long trip, or those who want to take a longer trip later on. Those of you in Southern California are near what I think of as the perfect place for a mini-moon, Miracle Manor in Desert Hot Springs.
This intimate spa has six guest rooms, each furnished in a stunning, minimalist style. With an amazing natural hot springs and no pets, no phones, no TV, and no kids allowed, it’s a great retreat for anyone needing to decompress from the stress of wedding planning. Oh, and did I mention the massage treatments?
