Carrie Underwood has a lot to be merry about this Christmas. The talented blonde songstress is officially engaged to her boyfriend, Ottawa Senators player Mike Fisher.
It was speculated that Fisher had popped the question at a holiday party when acquaintances began expressing their congratulations via Twitter. Happily, the couple confirmed the news yesterday.
"I'm happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn't be happier," Jessie Schmidt, Underwood's spokesperson, told CNN. "No wedding date has been set at this time."
However, onlookers who caught a glimpse of the giant flashy bauble on Underwood's finger might have guessed the news themselves.
The beautiful engagement ring is a flawless round yellow diamond. People.com reports that the Diamond Information Center estimates the brilliant diamond is at least five carats, and has an estimated value of approximately $150,000.
The former American Idol contestant famously delayed living with her athletic beau. "Call me old-fashioned," Underwood told Ellen Degeneres. "He's there. I'm here. We're both doing our thing and it's good. The next guy I move in with will be my hubby."
The couple began dating late last year.
