Celebrity Style To Inspire Your Bridal Look: 2010 Oscars!

By Azure Nelson, Published Mar 8, 2010

The red carpet at the 2010 Oscars was full of surprises! Glitz, Glam, and Sparkle Galore! Gold-toned gowns were a popular choice at last night’s Academy Awards. Sandra Bullock’s gold beaded Marchesa dress was very fitting; note the similarity to the Oscar statue she walked away with after winning Best Actress! Cameron Diaz went for the gilded look as well, in a beautiful a-line Oscar de la Renta dress. Miley Cyrus went gold and glittery wearing one of my favorite designers, Jenny Packham. While the champagne-gold bustier could have used a bit of tailoring, the sequined a-line skirt, and overall look, was a winner. I feel like I can spot a Jenny Packham design from a mile away! The second I saw Vanessa Hudgens at a Vanity Fair afterparty, I knew her slinky black beaded dress (with a plunging open back) was Jenny Packham. And I was right! Jennifer Lopez and Amanda Seyfried wore Armani Prive sparklers. The highly-structured bodices were very modern, almost Jane Jetson-esque… But the silhouettes and pastel hues reminded me of Glenda the Good Witch. Thoughts on these Armani Prive red carpet gowns?? Bright hues and jewel tones also made an appearance on last night’s red carpet. Vera Farmiga donned a rich, berry-colored Marchesa gown that was truly a work of art. The tiers of swirling pleated layers are very reminiscent of the styles in Jorge Manuel’s 2010 bridal collection, no? A ruby-colored Donna Karan Couture dress looked stunning on Penelope Cruz, and Mo'Nique, Mariah Carey, and Gabourey Sidibe choose sapphire-toned dresses. Blush and nude tones got some celeb Oscar-love, too! I thought Demi Moore’s strapless Atelier Versace gown with romantic soft ruffled skirt was lovely. Anna Kendrick didn’t fare quite as well- her off-the-shoulder Elie Saab frock was beautiful, but the blush pink tone washed Kendrick out. One of my favorite red carpet looks of the night- Rachel McAdams! She was a watercolor vision in Elie Saab Haute Couture. The hand-pleated bodice and sweetheart neckline were perfectly romantic with the soft pink, blue and green print. And her swept up hairstyle and chandelier earrings completed the look. Who were your favorites from last night's Oscars? And what stars really missed the mark? Dish it! Helpful Links: Designer Wedding Dresses Celeb Love and Style
