Destination Weddings - The Basics

A destination wedding is a unique adventure for all your guests involving travel, multiple events over two to four days, and a celebration designed to reflect the unique personalities, style, and taste of you and your groom.
Growing numbers of couples are discovering the allure of destination weddings. Over the past five years wedding locations have grown more and more exotic, and today destination weddings happen worldwide – and are even beginning to grow enough in popularity enough to rival hometown weddings.
One reason for the popularity of destination weddings is that today’s couples often live in different places than where they grew up and have friends and family living in different parts of the country or even the world. If you need to travel to a neutral locale for your celebration, why not make an adventure of it?
You and your groom might choose your destination for a variety of reasons. It may be the place you met while at school or a special place you vacationed. Or you may just want a unique experience for yourselves and your guests. If you live in the rush of a city, you may want the country experience of a New England wedding. If you’re used to spending your winters in the northeast, you may opt for an exotic wedding in the tropics. Or maybe you just know that your groom has always wanted to see Vienna.
Planning a destination wedding can be more complicated than an at-home wedding and will almost certainly take more time. You’ll have trickier logistics to work out and more tasks for your to-do list. But with the right tools, a firm budget, and the assistance of knowledgeable professionals, it can be a wonderful experience.
Wherever you decide to host your magical event – the heart of the Big Apple, the lush islands of the Caribbean, or the Rocky Mountain West – it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create special memories and spend quality time with all your friends and family.
