Featured wedding by Karen Stott of Avayah Photography
In keeping with both of their laid back personalities, Alec from Texas and Rhea from Oregon found themselves moving to Maui on a whim with some friends. Hawaii had more in store for them than they originally anticipated when they were introduced to each other through mutual friends. When Alec proposed Maui was an obvious place for their wedding since it was the very setting of them falling in love. They decided on the gorgeous Olowalu Plantation House for their wedding and reception because of it's breathtaking views. With their vows being timed perfectly at sunset it was a truly spectacular scene.
What made Alec & Rhea's wedding so amazing was their impeccable attention to detail & added personal touches. Each table had a message written out by Alec the night before he proposed to Rhea, adding a very heartfelt touch. Hawaiian weddings are known for their relaxed casual atmosphere, but this was far beyond a typical "beach wedding". From the moment you stepped on the property, the elegant tables capes of brown, white and lime and the music filling the warm breeze was enough to take your breath away. Alec and Rhea chose to use very organic elements in their centerpieces pulling off an incredibly chic feel. The florist used only green orchids and white roses with island leaves. Guests were served sushi "pupus" (hors d'oeuvres) upon arrival and given bamboo fans and perfectly coordinated brown and green CDs with Alec & Rhea's favorite songs. As the sun was setting, the DJ set the tone for a memorable evening of dancing under the stars and glowing lanterns!
