Wedding plans stressing you out? You’re not alone. Planning your big day can sometimes become a bit overwhelming (so many details, so little time!), and everyone needs a break from time to time. If you’re both starting to feel like you’re about to hit your breaking point, here’s how to deal.

Schedule some time for yourselves. Remember what you used to do before you started planning your wedding together? Whether it’s cooking a meal together, going to the movies, hanging out with friends or curling up with a good book while he plays video games, resolve to schedule some time each week to do whatever makes both of you happy. Just make sure it’s not wedding related in any way, so you can give yourself a rest from wedding planning for a while.

Plan a date. Sometimes the stress of planning your wedding, finances, blending families, etc. can start to take a toll on your relationship. Plan a date night for the two of you to reconnect where there’s only one rule: no wedding talk. Whether you end up going out to a nice dinner, playing mini-golf, visiting a gallery opening, stretching out on a blanket in the park, or spending the day in bed, taking time for yourselves will give your minds a break and serve as a welcome reminder about why you fell in love in the first place.

Work it out. Exercise is a great stress reliever. Make plans to go on a run together through your neighborhood or nearby park, take a bike ride, swim laps, or attend a new workout class at your gym. You’ll both feel exhilarated and refreshed afterward.

Arrange a spa day. Remember, the spa isn’t just for ladies. Guys love getting pampered, too. If you’re both starting to get tense over the wedding plans, set up a day or relaxation, including a couple’s massage, for the two of you at a nearby spa to help you unwind before the big day rolls around.

Whatever you decide, make sure to give yourselves a break from wedding planning every now and then, so you can both keep your heads in the game and tackle the planning duties together.
