I DO or I DON’T to Non-White Wedding Gowns?

I skirted a lot of traditions with my wedding, but I must admit I was a traditionalist when it came to the color of my wedding dress.  But more and more I’m seeing brides who choose a really special dress to wear on their wedding day that isn’t the traditional white gown.  And I’m sort of loving it.  I don’t know if I would do it (you know, if I had a time machine, used it, and did a wedding do-over) but I love seeing brides who do.  And there are some brides who can rock a non-traditional gown!

Like this lovely bride in her emerald green gown:

Or these brides in their pretty yellow numbers:

Pale Pink is a great color for brides who want to add color but aren’t daring enough to go green or black:

As is pale blue (plus, it could be your something blue!):

Or grey:

And lastly, what says “today is my special day” more than a gorgeous sparkly gown?

Something you may not have thought of: if you say no to white you may have a wider and more affordable variety of dresses to choose from.  As soon as it doesn’t look like a traditional wedding gown the price tag goes down (because we all know everything with the label “wedding” has quite the price mark up).  So not only do you get a gorgeous and original gown, but you may get it at a much lower price.

Would or did you wear a non-traditional wedding gown?  What do you think of my round up?  I asked my husband what he thought and he wrinkled his nose and shook his head with a “those don’t look like wedding dresses” answer.  Do you agree?  Must you wear white to look like a bride?
