Looking for a little distraction from the rigors of your own wedding planning
Just in time for summer, the CW is debuting a new one-hour reality show focusing on couples who balance on that most delicate of precipices: deciding whether to tie the knot or break it off for good.
On Hitched Or Ditched, premiering on May 26, a friend of the couple nominates them for a challenge. The pair must spend one week planning their nuptials, with the aim of confronting and working through some of their thornier problems on the way to wedded bliss.
One week? Yes, that's right. In the world of reality TV, seven days is enough time to choose a wedding dress,
pick a caterer, arrange the wedding photography
and write vows. And, oh yeah, it's also ample time for patching relationships with future in-laws and conquering jealousy.
At the end of the week, the bride and groom-to-be will make their final decision about whether to say "I do" or flee the altar.
In other words, there's a lot more at stake than settling on the wedding cake
. Thank goodness for reality TV escapism!
