Portia de Rossi to take Ellen DeGeneres' last name for second wedding anniversary

Some brides struggle with taking their spouse's last name, but it looks like Portia de Rossi is not one of those girls.

The striking starlet, who wed Ellen DeGeneres two years ago, plans on honoring her wedding vows by legally taking her wife's last name, according to E! Online.

The petition was filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, where the actress asked to be legally known as Portia DeGeneres. The move comes only days after a federal judge in the Golden State struck down Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriage.

De Rossi's beloved, Ellen, spoke with the press in 2008 and admitted she was relieved about her right to don a wedding ring.

"I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous like we all don't have the same rights," she said at the Emmy Awards that year.
