Spring 2010 Bridal Runway: Pixton Couture

A new designer to the scene, Kimberly Pixton of Pixton Couture is as cute as a button. While her background as an NFL cheerleader and designing cheer uniforms has aided her in creating body conscious silhouettes that truly flatter the female form, her designs are anything but Ra Ra Ra!!! In fact, her Spring 2010 wedding dresses evoke old Hollywood glamour and vintage sophistication. We had the pleasure of attending a private runway show with Kimberly, her model, and her four gorgeous new designs at the Waldorf while in NYC, so here is the scoop, straight from the runway! The first dress, dubbed the Jessica, is simple and sophisticated. Strapless with a hint of a sweetheart neckline dip, the corset bodice is great for cinching in a little extra weight around the stomach. What I love about this dress are the sparkly rhinestone eyelets on the back of the corset top. Bianca is the second dress, a sexy and slinky number that just screams Jean Harlow! Constructed from heavy silk charmeuse, with art deco-inspired rhinestone beading under the bust and across the back, this dress is a stunner. The third dress, the Pheobe, has a modified sweetheart neckline with a flower applique at the waist. Made from silk satin organza, with alencon lace on the bodice and bordering the trumpet skirt, this is a beautiful choice for the classic, yet modern, bride. The final dress (the Creseda) is perfect for a winter wedding, an older bride, or a bride looking for a more modest wedding dress. This long sleeve design brings to mind Hollywood's Film Noir period, complete with a black sash and rhinestone brooch. Couldn't you just picture Rita Hayworth gracing the red carpet in this vintage-inspired creation?
