As the wedding day inches closer, stress levels are sure to be on the rise. If you’re anything like me, all of those last-minute details will be haunting your dreams in the weeks and days leading up to the wedding. True story: I actually had nightmares about whether or not to give out groomsmen gifts before or after dinner at the rehearsal dinner
The best way to counter the ups and downs that accompany the final stages of wedding planning
is to take a day off and concentrate on something that is completely un-related to marriage - doing this can help recharge your batteries for the final push to “I do.”
Here are a few ideas
for putting the wedding planning on pause for a day (or night).
Plan a day-date
Scheduling a picnic, hike, or trip to the local zoo or amusement park
is a great idea for letting some steam off. There’s something about being outdoors on a nice day that makes everything feel like it’s going to be OK. If you can’t take the entire day off, how about dinner and a movie? (Her choice of course)
This generally isn’t a smart suggestion for newlyweds-to-be. You should probably be saving money or paying off wedding costs. However, shopping is a guaranteed stress reliever
(just ask your fiancé). Consider this a nice opportunity for an impulse buy or to pick up something stylish for the honeymoon. Those leopard print swim trunks are screaming your name, you stud.
Be active (or at least watch people who are)
If you’re both sports fans grab some tickets to the game
and kick back with a hot dog and beer. Or, if you’re more active types – a round of golf, a tennis match, or hitting the batting cages are fun options that will keep you occupied for hours.
This may sound like an odd addition to the list, but volunteering is actually one of the best ways to raise spirits and get your mind off of minute details (like whether or not your groomsmen have been in to get measured for tuxes yet). Local volunteer opportunities
