Wedding Planning Timelines: Invitations and Stationery

Within your long wedding planning checklist, many of the major tasks have their own timelines and to do's. When it comes to your wedding stationery, picking the perfect design is just one of the many tasks. But the real fun begins as soon as the engagement ring is on your pretty little finger! We know it can be overwhelming thinking about all that needs to happen leading up to your wedding day. Use this wedding stationery timeline to stay on track and stress-free! You're engaged! Now what? It's party time! Now is the time for you to be soaking up the happiness and excitement of your engagement, and to spread the word by sending engagement announcements and engagement party invites to friends and family. 6 months before I Do Once your wedding date is set and guest list refined, it's time to send out save-the-dates. To give wedding guests ample notice so they can reserve your special day, send save-the-dates at least six months before your I Do's. 4 months before I Do Select and order your wedding invitations four months before your big day. Discuss with your fiance what enclosure cards, like response cards, reception cards, cards with directions, etc., you'd like to include. And while your hubby-to-be might not care too much about the font, colors and overall design, make sure he's on board with the invitations you choose. 6-8 weeks before I Do Your dream wedding invites have arrived, and now it's time to mail them! Send invitations to out-of-town guests at least 8 weeks before your wedding day. If you're including response cards, add an RSVP date to encourage guests to respond in a timely manner. 2-4 weeks after the wedding Your honeymoon was paradise but now it's back to reality. Send thank you cards to all your guests to show your appreciation. It may be helpful to keep a spreadsheet with guests' names, addresses and their gifts to you. Don't beat yourself up if you miss the four week post-wedding window. Just send your thank you's as soon as you can. We hope this wedding stationery timeline will help keep you on track so you can enjoy the engagement bliss!
