What was the best comment from a guest?
Now I know Kat’s Cakes can make some beautiful cakes. I’ve seen the pictures. They can make some tasty cakes. I’ve tasted samples. These reasons are why we chose them to make our wedding cake. Out of all our vendors, we were actually least worried about them. We explained our idea for our cake with Sarah (Kat’s sister). We also provided pictures and explanations of what we did and did not want. It wasn’t too complicated. My wife and I were convinced our wedding cake would be beautiful.
HOWEVER! ON OUR WEDDING DAY, IT WAS TO OUR SURPRISE WHEN WE WALKED INTO OUR RECEPTION HALL TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WE DID NOT WANT! NOT ONLY THAT, OUR CAKE INSIDE WAS DRY AND CRUMBLY! WHEN WE CUT OUR CAKE IT CRUMBLED, AND WE COULD NOT EVEN GET A DECENT SLICE. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WERE DISSAPOINTED.
After our wedding we called Sarah to voice our complaint. Nobody answered the phone so we left a voice message. One week, later no reply from Sarah. I called again, spoke to the assistant, explained the situation, and asked her to tell Sarah to call us. A few days later we received still no response from Sarah who by the way is supposed to be the manager. We called again… and again… and again. It was as if she was avoiding us. I then emailed Sarah, explained our complaints, and asked her to call me. She only emailed back saying that Kat’s Cakes made the cake how we requested, that there couldn’t be a problem with the cake recipe, and that they couldn’t do anything for us. We felt ignored, brushed aside, and as if once they had their money they didn’t really care.
WE WERE NOT SATISFIED WITH THEIR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. WE WERE UNHAPPY AND THEY DID NOTHING. WE WENT IN THE SHOP TO TALK FACE TO FACE WITH SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP US. INSIDE THE SHOP WE CALLED THE STORE PHONE AND GUESS WHAT? IT RANG WITH CALLER ID SHOWING OUR NAME! THEY HAD DEFINITELY DOGDED OUR CALLS!
WE ACTUALLY MANAGED TO TALK TO KAT THAT DAY, WHO IS YOU GUESSED IT THE STORE OWNER. SHE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP US RIGHT? NO! INSTEAD SHE CLAIMED SHE DID IT EXACTLY HOW WE TOLD HER TO. INTERESTING, SINCE SHE DIDN’T TALK TO US ABOUT THE DESIGN. THERE WAS OBVIOUSLY A MISCOMMUNICATION BETWEEN SARAH AND KAT. BUT THAT IS NOT OUR FAULT, AND AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE, ON OUR ONE SPECIAL DAY, OUR ONLY WEDDING DAY, THE CAKE CANNOT BE REDONE.
ALL SHE SAID WAS THAT IT LOOKED NICE, AND SHE COULDN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. EVEN MORE, WHEN I WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT THE CAKE WAS CRUMBLY SHE REPLIED “I USED THE SAME RECIPE, IT COULDN’T BE BAD”. NOW I’M NOT DUMB. ACTUALLY, I WORK IN FOOD PRODUCTION, AND SEVERAL OF OUR GUESTS WORK IN FOOD PRODUCTION. THESE SAME GUESTS MENTIONED THAT IT WAS CRUMBLY TO US TOO. SAME RECIPE MAYBE, BUT THE CAKE WAS NOT RIGHT INSIDE. NOT ONLY DID KAT REFUSE TO ADMIT THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM, SHE SAID SHE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND THAT SHE COULD NOT REFUND ANY MONEY. SHE’S THE STORE OWNER AND SHE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO?!?! GIVE ME A BREAK!
In the end we were left disappointed, and over $1000 shorter for a cake we specifically did not want. Kat’s Cakes can make some nice stuff, but if there are problems they don’t care as long as they’re paid! You can read the reviews about their great cakes, but many are left by their friends and other vendors. Just a word of advice when you plan your wedding: These vendors make referrals to each other. It’s a scratch my back I’ll scratch yours type of thing. So beware!
