Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s a time when you are pledging to become husband and wife…till death do you part. This is a time that’s sacred, full of meaning, but also a joyous, wonderful time of your life! You want to have the perfect photographer there to make sure you remember this amazing day for years to come.
I LOVE shooting weddings..it is my passion. I think there’s nothing more wonderful than giving a bride and groom an album with wonderful photos that tells the story of their wedding day. I realize there is so much information out there when trying to choose a photographer, so I compiled a list of questions I get asked by brides on a frequent basis, and hopefully this will help you in choosing a photographer!
I went to a wedding where the photographer was right up by the bride and groom during the ceremony – are you that kind of photographer?
I consider the ceremony to be a sacred moment during the entire wedding day. With that said, I don’t go in your faces to get photos. I have equipment that allows me to stand further back and still get closer shots of you saying your vows, exchanging rings, etc. Also, depending on the church or venue restrictions, I always honor their requests unless you ask permission for me to be somewhere else. I don’t want to be a distraction to the guests you’ve invited to your wedding, but I also want to make sure I get the shots you want.
Do you make us see each other before hand?
I love doing First Looks, if possible. We can set aside a private area, where just the two of you and myself will go, and you can have a first look before the ceremony. This can be a wonderful time for the two of you to spend a few minutes alone before the wedding day gets started! Often, if we can do a first look, we have more time for photos before the ceremony – especially with the two of you, because those are some of the most important photos of the day. However, if you don’t want to see each other before hand, I can also accommodate that – after all, it is your day, and we want to be there to help you and make your day go smoothly, not to force you to do anything! The time of the ceremony and reception also plays into a big part of when we’ll do photos.
Have you been shooting in the DC area a long time?
Answer: I actually just moved here from Mississippi in September of 2010, after my own wedding. Even before that, however, I shot weddings all over the country, and not just in Mississippi. I love finding new venues and capturing your moments – wherever that may be!
Do you carry backup equipment?
Always! I never shoot a wedding without bringing backup equipment with me. I’ve never had my equipment fail, but I’m not willing to risk your day by not having backup cameras with me. I know that it’s so important, and I will always make sure I have the equipment there that I need to photograph the entire day with no interruption.
Do you have a 2nd Photographer with you?
Depending on your needs I can definitely have a 2nd photographer along for the day. I always bring an assistant with me and they generally help with holding lights, carrying my bags, and help make sure you always look stunning!
