Wedding gown preservation is our specialty. We use a museum-quality, nine step process to hand-cleaned, press and package your gown, ensuring it remains as beautiful as the day you wore it for generations to come. We know this isnt just another dress, and our six decades of experience has earned us the loyalty of clients from Giorgio Armani to Barneys New York. Our process starts with an appointment with one of our gown inspectors. After locating obvious areas of attention loose hems or intricate beading we examine each gown using an ultraviolet lamp, in order to find stains invisible to the naked eye, such as champagne or cake icing. Most cleaners remove obvious stains like lipstick or dirt, but our ability to look more closely means our gowns last longer.
We actually clean most gowns three separate times. Its a painstaking, labor-intensive process. Technicians treat each problem area by hand to ensure the textile can last indefinitely. Next, we iron the gown by hand, carefully following the designers lines.
After a gown is pressed, its stuffed with an acid-free bust form and packed under the watchful eye of yet another inspector. Finally, the gown is boxed in a breathable wedding chest. Both the gown and chest are wrapped using unbleached muslin cloth, to protect the gown from dust and moisture. As a finishing touch, we provide a pair of white gloves for easy, safe handling.
