Mary and David Cherolis - Owner/Photographers
What was your favorite wedding photo?
I had seen a friend of mine's engagement pictures about 3 years before and fell in love with a pose she had. In the picture, my friend had her ands on her fiance's face and they were kissing... their photographer focused on the ring and the couple was just out of focus. I loved it. I asked Dave and Mary to recreate that for us. I got what I asked for, with our own take on it. She caught us in a giggle rubbing noses. It's my favorite picture of the two of us.
How did the wedding photographer avoid disrupting the day? Great with candids? Action shots? Portraits?
My grandmother is obsessed with traditional style portraits while my husband and I preferred photo-journalist style. Dave and Mary were able to get both styles and do a fabulous job with each. They would often walk behind us and just catch us doing what we'd normally do. Without any instruction, we came up with some of the best shots you can imagine. I never knew we were so cute and photogenic! Dave and Mary capture your emotions in their photos. It's not just a "tilt your head a little ... sit up a bit... ok now don't move" kind of session, it's really you and your fiance being yourselves.
What was included in your wedding photo package? Albums? DVDs? Engagement pics? Two photographers?
The engagement session was part of my price. Traditional Portraits offers packages of all sizes, and they're really accomodating to all needs and budgets. If you want something a little custom, just ask.
How did the photographer make you and family comfortable?
If there is one thing I learned during my wedding process, it is that you only see most vendors once. But your photographer you see so much! From engagements, to bridal session, to the big day, to ordering prints etc. Make sure you pick someone you like on a personality level, not just based on their portfolios. It makes you comfortable with them, and it makes your pictures better.
Of course we were posed for the in church shots by one photographer... but while she was doing that, the other was cracking jokes behind her back. They're a husband/wife team so it's not insulting for him to be mocking her... and it made us all at ease. Once we got the swing of things, Mary got the formal pictures, while Dave snapped the real life photo journalist moments of the day in between shots.
My photographers saved the day at my reception. My DJ was awful, and without Dave and Mary our reception would have been ruined. They knew Chris and I so well by then, they knew what we wanted, and were able to fix what the DJ did wrong, they kept the party going, and even danced with us. You can't get a more friendly team.
