What was your favorite wedding photo?
Great, creative shots w/classic Lincoln as transport vehicle for Bride/Groom from wedding to reception. We wanted pix that captured the venues of wedding and recep and showed the dress, decor and beautiful park across from church, but definately did NOT want too many of the ho-hum obviously posed shots. Schona captures great aspects of architechture and light of the venues that we didn't even notice until we saw her pix. She used the backdrops of the venues to great advantage to get great shots showing off the details of the bride, groom, family, dress, candles, flowers; everything. She is excellent at seeing and capturing the big picture. We were all focused just on the bride/groom - not necessarily what would make a great picture. We are one year post wedding and looking at Schona's shots bring back memories of the all the small details of the event.
How did the wedding photographer avoid disrupting the day? Great with candids? Action shots? Portraits?
We specifically asked for less time w/posed shots pre-post ceremony and MORE time getting candids of our very large extended families at the reception. The party was big with a loud, active crowd. Schona got everything we could possibly hope for. As the mother of the bride, I'd see something going on and think "Wow, this would be a great pix." I'd look around hoping to find Schona to see if she could get it, and in every case, there she was already capturing the photo op. She was excellent at getting us together for pre-post ceremony using her warm, easygoing personality instead of the "I've got a job to do and your sentimental mushy stuff is holding me up" attitude often seen w/wedding photographers. By the time we got to the reception we truly felt she fit in like another guest. Our large, close family felt an instant connection w/her due to her great personality. Professional, but warm and easygoing too.
What was included in your wedding photo package? Albums? DVDs? Engagement pics? Two photographers?
My daughter had Schona do Boudoir shots for her bachelorette party guests. We got a discount on that service because we had also booked her for the wedding. Great shots BTW. She put everyone; from 22 years to 49 years old at ease. Boudoirs were sexy, tasteful and gorgeous for every size/age of woman in attendence. Our wedding pkg included DVD, proofs, album and many professional quality prints in various sizes. Getting the DVD was a great help. Our daughter and new son in law used the DVD to print and frame shots of each family member w/them taken at the wedding and recp and give as very special Christmas gifts months after the wedding. She had a second photographer at the wedding and recep included in the price. It REALLY helped with getting all the candid shots of bride and groom getting ready, including shots of the church being prepped. Could never get all that w/only one photographer.
How did the photographer make you and family comfortable?
Schona's personality is warm, comfortable, easygoing yet professional. Somehow she got everyone together where/when they should be, but we never felt like we were being herded like cattle. She used her skill and experience at photography to get the important shots, but not interrupt the moments that matter so much to a family during such an event. Our daughter and son in law are expecting their first baby just one year after the wedding. They are already planning to have Schona capture the baby's first year. We will definatly recommend her to our son's future bride, whomever that may be!
