When it comes to weddings, one of the biggest challenges is keeping kids entertained. While some couples bar kids from attending, most weddings have numerous little guests. Since a wedding day can consume several hours, it's important to ensure kids stay entertained for the duration. Since you'll have different age groups to contend with, be sure to have multiple activities for everyone. When looking at banquet halls for weddings, it's a good idea to pick one that has adequate space for kids to play outside or to be entertained separately from the adults. If you've got a wedding coming up and need some help keeping your little guests happy, here are seven tips guaranteed to make your big day go more smoothly.
1. Have a Crayon Table
If there is one thing kids love to do, it's grab some crayons and color for hours. To take advantage of this, set up a crayon table complete with crayons, coloring books, and maybe even some candy. If you really want to go all out, do away with the tablecloths and instead put down butcher paper, which will let the kids color the tables after they're done with the coloring books.
2. Create Kid-Friendly Centerpieces
Along with crayons, create centerpieces on the kids tables that can be played with throughout the day. By taking pretty bowls and filling them with Legos or other toys, the kids will have plenty of toys that can be played with for hours of fun.
3. Activity Briefcase
If your wedding is not having tables for the kids, give them activity briefcases when they arrive. Filled with toys, crayons, and some snacks like applesauce cups or small bags of crackers or chips, these briefcases will make the kids feel important while also keeping them busy hour after hour.
4. Set up a Video Game Station
When you're looking for wedding venues that will be perfect for your special day, try to pick one that has ample room to set up a video game station. A very popular spot for older kids, it's guaranteed to be busy from the minute kids arrive until the reception is over. However, since video games are popular with all ages, it's a good bet a few of your adult guests will be occupying the space as well. So if you're ready to begin the ceremony and can't find the bridegroom or best man, take a look at the video game station. Chances are you'll find both of them there, playing a rousing game of Air Guitar with the younger guests.
5. I Spy With My Camera
While you'll probably have a professional photographer taking pictures at your wedding, you may find yourself with plenty of other photographers on the beat as well. If you're willing to purchase some disposable cameras for the children at your wedding, you can create an I Spy game with them that's sure to be one of the highlights of the day. To make the kids feel included, give them a list of things you want them to take pictures of for your wedding scrapbook. For example, have them take pictures of people laughing or kissing, or even more serious shots like the bride walking to the altar or the bride and groom making their exit after being married. By choosing the best banquet halls for weddings, your junior photographers will have plenty of chances to snap the perfect pictures for your wedding album.
6. A Kids Dance Floor
Even if you're planning on reserving the best luxury wedding venues for your wedding, giving the kids a turn on the dance floor all by themselves is sure to be a big hit. Not only will it be a great way to let the kids burn off excess energy, but it will also make them feel as important as the grownups. By giving them 15-30 minutes to dance before the adults get their groove on, you're sure to find a future dancing king or queen.
7. The Bounce House
When you're looking at luxury wedding venues and find some that have plenty of outside space, consider placing a bounce house there. Once you do, it's simply a matter of standing back and letting the fun begin. It's always good to have some adult supervision around to make sure everyone is okay. By having this activity at your wedding, there's no doubt kids will enjoy themselves all day long.
